Belay Buddy Climbing Balm was made at the request of climbers in the Blue Mountains who wanted an Australian-made product. It contains a rich oil blend base, which is especially formulated to improve cellular renewal and repair, as well as to have antibacterial and anti fungal properties. This includes Peach Kernel Oil, Camellia Oil, Wheatgerm Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil, Castor Oil and Capuaçu Butter. Follow the links to find out about the properties of these oils, and read on below!
Wheatgerm oil is an extremely nourishing skin conditioner. It is inherently rich in essential fatty acids, as well as antioxidants, such as Vitamins E, A, D, K. It is also packed with minerals, including potassium, zinc and iron, phosphorus and selenium. Consequently, wheatgerm oil helps to heal and repair skin tissue by building collagen. Wheatgerm oil is also antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory.
The Capuaçu fruit is found in the Amazon rainforest and is very closely related to cocoa. It is a very rich emollient which contains a high level of essential fatty acids and antioxidants. This helps to prevent free radical damage of skin and to restore the skin’s flexibility and elasticity. Moreover, Cupuaçu butter has a high capacity for holding water. In fact, it can hold up to 4 times its weight in water and so it is great at helping to keep the skin hydrated. For this reason, it is an effective ingredient in products for dry skin.
